Who's that girl?
Revolva first hit the stage at age four in a Detroit-area ballet class and was a classic "theater kid" throughout her formative years. Dancing, acting and word slinging (she doubles as a writer) were her foundation when she fell in love with hula hoops in 2002. While she can blow crowds away freestyling to live music, she really shines with her signature, over-the-top character numbers.
Revolva has served as opening/support entertainment for bands such as Weird Al Yankovic and Los Straitjackets, rocked the stage with the New Old Time Chautauqua Vaudeville Tour, and been nabbed as a hot act by big-name clients. She has also won the “Fire Idol” competition at Burning Man, served as a face of Synergy Fire Hoops, won an international Hoopie Award, and earned The Busking Project’s top pick award in the “How do you contribute to public space?” contest. Her performance work has been featured in in VICE, Huffpost, TMZ, SF Weekly, CBS news, Portland Monthly, Cadillac News, and more.
After moving from Motown to the west coast, Revolva co-founded Circus Artemis: Portland Women’s Circus — which sold out a 400-seat venue for its debut run. She also co-organized, performed at, and co-emceed a 500-person rally at City Hall in Oakland, Calif., featuring artists calling for an end to violence against women.
As she approached 40, her experience using performance to create social change inspired her to tackle the issue of ageism and sexism in the performance world. Revolva set out to prove that women have no shelf life by launching Broadminded Women Over 40 Revue. The show sold out in San Francisco, to national acclaim. Revolva is producing Broadminded in Detroit in April, 2026.
Being a role model for girls and women is of paramount importance to Revolva. Blessed with the super power of creating stories, she attempts to use her talent for the greater good. And she continues to travel the world, fusing hoop skills with writing chops to prove that storytelling and the movement arts are a truly dynamic duo.
